City Lifting Delivers a Crane Contract Lift Solution which others said was Impossible to Achieve!

City Lifting provides an innovative solution to solve the problem of an urgent breakdown of an air conditioning unit in the middle of the city.

At City Lifting we are known for our competence and reliability, and never turn a difficult job down if we believe we can solve the problem. Bearing this in mind, we were the only crane hire company that believed this job was possible. Most of our competitors turned down the challenge of lifting the items to the rooftop plant area, dismissing the predicament of this banking giants London Headquarters as impossible! They all believed that they couldn’t get a crane to operate in the tight London space available at the ‘goods in’ entrance of the building. They stated that what was needed was a a full road closure at the front of the building which would entail closing one of London’s main roads, with a 12 week lead time to arrange the necessary closure! This however was not the case for City Lifting… and we certainly didn’t mess around!

Fortunately, we have the most diverse and comprehensive fleet of cranes in the UK to select from and in this instance we specified one of our Demag AC 55 City Class Cranes.

To make sure that the job was possible, City Lifting produced 3D drawings to share with the company to evaluate how we were going to manoeuvre our crane and how to accurately prove the feasibility of the required lifting operation, especially useful in highlighting to all concerned parties the exact tolerances we were anticipating.

We set up the Demag AC55 City in the specified location by the side of large scaffold in a very narrow location virtually enclosed by tall buildings and an overhanging canopy and then rigged the crane with its specified fly jib which needed the support of a City Lifting Hiab vehicle as it just wasn’t possible to rig it ready for work any other way. Once the cranes safety systems were checked by our team, we then got straight onto the task of carrying out the what was to prove to be an intricate and well planned job, all done and dusted in an four-hour window!!
