Thursday was an early start for Jake with his first test due to start at 9am.
Engine notes crackled through the crisp Derbyshire morning as the riders approached the start line for the first time in 2016, the anticipation was palpable with rider and spectator alike not knowing if the work done in the close season would be enough to ensure a podium finish.
Jake, piloting the beautifully turned out Team City Lifting, RS racing, KTM and resplendent in new leathers, gloves and boots, made a steady start, working his way through the field to finish the first session in a very respectable fifth position.
